Market research
At the Odette Conference in Paris, November 2005 open4business interviewed and questioned  motor manufacturers and suppliers concerning the use of internet portals and the future use of the User Access Managers.
The results of this research shows the current situation and the future development as follows:
Opinion of the motor manufacturers:
At present no adequate software solution is available to the motor manufacturers in order to handle business processes via internet portals. However for the future this is actually extremely important for efficient business processes dealing with company-s portals.
Without the suppliers registration on the internet portals of the motor manufacturers, efficient and problem-free business relations would not promoted between these two companies.
Suppliers are more and more urged by motor manufactures to a more  efficient usage of their  portals. The motor manufacturers  would like to have and will support a more reliable solution concerning user administration with the suppliers, especially in view of  the exchange of sensitive data and the large risk of unauthorized access to the portal.
Motor manufacturers favour a software solution for the automobile suppliers, which is based on the ODETTE UAM standard.
At present, supervision and security of user administration for internet portals between the motor manufacturers and their suppliers are regulated on the basis of trust, no common  standard exists yet, which in fact would be desirable for both parties.
Motor manufacturers lay down only minimum requirements concerning the business with their suppliers. However the motor manufacturers now say  that because  more efficiency is required  rules and regulations for business processes  would have to be substantially more extensive and far-reaching.
The opinion of the supplier:
In general the sales department of the supplier is responsible for the internal usage and  administration for portals of the motor manufacturers. The administration of users is predominantly decentralized.
In principle there is no proper control and practically no  evaluations of user registrations  on customer portals. As rule each user  administers  the access to the portal of the customers by himself.”.
The automotive suppliers up till now were not really concerned about a software solution for execution of business processes via internet portals with their customers.  Usually there is no central department within the suppliers organisation which is concerned with e-Business processes.
Generally software programmes like Microsoft Excel are used for the administration and organisation of complex and business processes with sensitive data exchange  between the suppliers and their customers.
