General information:
The User Access Manager is a web-based software solution which centralises and administrates access to internet portals (customers, suppliers, internal systems and others) for  “resources” (objects for which a user can apply for an access). The User Access Manager has its own user identification mechanism.
The User Access Manager administrates also very complex approval systems which already exist in the company, for example execution of orders which needs the approval of the superior.
The User Access Manager also includes a very extensive audit and reporting functions which enable the superior to know which employee has access to what kind of resources.
The sophisticated authorisation concept permits the allocation of different tasks  to authorized employees. The authorisation can be delegated to different departments, locations or divisions.
With the User Access Manager the company is able to fulfil the duties which have been defined by the portal management of their customers.
Resources
Within the framework of an internet portal “Resourses” are defined as applications,  for example sourcing or vender managed inventory, and the role it takes. Everything e.g. portals, network-sharing, accounting systems, keys or key cards, etc.). can be used as a “Resource” as long as the  employee has  access to it  and can be authorised to use it.
Corporate structures
In order to specify various responsibilities-, an  organisational  structure of the company can be defined by different  divisions, locations and/or departments. Also associated  companies or independent divisions can be described as legally independent clients. The existing company structure can be taken over from an internal data base.
Authorization Process
The display of authorization processes can be described by workflows.   
Workflows are steered by the standard Process engine WS-BPEL. Because of this, arbitrary web services can be included in-to-the authorization process. The existing workflows, which are necessary for the employee for authorization to have access to the “resources”, are supported by the system and are fully automatic. In this case the software suits the company and not the company suits the software.
The User Access Manager supports your company as follows:
  • Processes of orders for access to “resources”.
  • Registration of your company on internet portals of your customers .
  • Collecting all legal and contractual information for the use of your customers´ portals.
Evaluation and statistics
  • For the evaluation and for statistical purposes various reporting  possibilities are available. For instance the  Management and/or the customer are able to receive detailed information concerning the users  access to the specific portal. Users conduct and lead time of orders are transparent and can be analysed.
  • Users and superiors are informed of existing accesses by regular audits. With these audits it can be established whether the access is still necessary or the database has to be corrected. Furthermore it is the possibile to connect the internal registration or HR-systems with the User Access Manager and balance the data with SAP-HR, ADSI or others. Existing identity management systems can also be integrated.
